Pastoral Support

Here at St. Andrew's Church of England Primary School, pastoral care is an intergal part of our school's ethos and plays a crucial role in fostering a holistic approach to education. It encompasses the well-being of students, ensuring their physical, emotional, social, and mental needs are met, creating a supportive and nurturing environment where they can thrive both academically and personally.

As the summer holidays approach, we understand that many parents have questions about the safety and wellbeing of their children, especially when considering whether it’s appropriate to leave them at home alone. The NSPCC website is a valuable resource for parents navigating these concerns. It provides comprehensive guidelines and practical advice to ensure your child's safety and peace of mind during the break. We encourage you to visit their site for more information and support in making informed decisions about childcare this summer.

In addition to guidance on leaving children home alone, the NSPCC offers a wealth of other valuable resources for parents. One of their key areas of focus is online safety, which is particularly crucial in today's digital age. Their website provides detailed advice on how to keep your children safe online, from understanding social media and apps to setting up parental controls. As children spend more time on digital devices, especially during school breaks, we highly recommend exploring the NSPCC's online safety resources to help protect your child from potential online risks.

What is emotional wellbeing?

Emotional wellbeing is about being happy, confident, having good realtionships and being able to cope with everyday events. Everyone at some piont might find it hard to cope with how they are feeling or what is happening in their life.

Unfortunately, children and young people don’t come with a manual and it is often hard to know what course of action is best when your child’s behaviour changes and you start to worry about them.

Don’t blame yourself. It can be very difficult to deal with stressful situations.
